UkraStud at the IEU Academic Council: Research Findings Enhancing the Understanding of Ukrainian Students’ Adaptation in Europe
On December 8, during a meeting of the Academic Council of the International European University, the results of a study conducted within the Erasmus+ UkraStud project were presented. The project focuses on adaptation, inclusion, and social integration of Ukrainian students in European universities.
The research covers the following aspects:
• adaptation and integration into a new academic environment
• psychological well-being and stress factors during studies abroad
• barriers and challenges in the educational process
• effectiveness of mentoring programs and student services
• level of inclusion and support within European university communities
Additional important analytical blocks were presented:
The data indicate that students with a higher level of social integration demonstrate better academic results and find it easier to navigate university requirements.
Contacts with local students and the wider community reduce feelings of isolation, improve language practice, and contribute to a deeper understanding of cultural norms.
A friendly and supportive environment shapes positive attitudes toward universities, the country of residence, and the European Union as a whole, while also strengthening students’ sense of identification with the European community.
