The Media communications discipline aims to provide students with knowledge about the phenomenon, theory and concept of mass communication, types of contemporary media, their features and interaction, communication technologies in information society, as well as the ability to feel familiar with the modern information space and apply this knowledge.
Key goals of the Media communications discipline:
- to acquaint students with the concept of media communications in the science system;
- to explain the emergence and development stages of communication activities in society;
- to introduce the communicative process in terms of mass communication;
- to define communicators and communicants as communication process entities;
- to acquire information exchange skills in communicative systems;
- to give insight into massification mechanisms and mass consciousness manipulations;
- to explore core types of mass and individual consciousness manipulations, ways to avoid them;
- to acquire necessary knowledge of pathogenic media content issues, its impact on the recipient and deactivation methods.
